I first met Peter Windsor in the Fall 2008, when he visited the San Francisco Bay Area to raise funds for USF1 Team, and I have been following the team’s rise, fall, as well as his own re-emergence on the F1 scene since the news of the team’s collapse earlier this year.
It was quite a public journey for Formula 1’s first team to be based in the United States in decades, and Peter’s interview this past August gave thousands of American F1 fans who had grown used to his voice every Sunday on SPEED’s F1 coverage a glimpse into what it was like on the brink of starting a new F1 team.
A group of local F1 fans I’ve been organizing and viewing F1 with since 2005 has been told recently that he will be back in the Bay Area for a speaking engagement at a local car club just South of San Francisco.
If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area Nov 20th and would like to join, details have been posted here.
Several of us will be going to hear him speak, and I look forward to hearing his thoughts on the 2010 season, learn what he’s been up to this year and hear more about his future F1 endeavors. If you have a question you’d like to ask him, I’d like to hear it @F1US, and I’ll write up what I learn in a future post – thanks!
